With the onset and departure of MTV’s hit series “The Jersey Shore”, New Jersey has intrigued the country with terms like GTL (Gym, Tan, Laundry), girls with poofy hair and men with slick haircuts, tatoos and chisseled abs and biceps. Now the advent of “The Jersey Sweet 16″, I will call it JS16 in the remainder of this article.
As a Professional Mobile DJ and growing up on the Jersey Shore, I have witnessed this trend first hand. Jersey teens have swag and are sophisticated and so is the JS16.
The (JS16) Jersey Sweet 16 is not just a DJ, a set of speakers and some lighting. JS16s clients are requesting celebrity appearances such as the Naked Cowboy Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Snoop Dog to name a few. These Millenial teens are very cultivated and call all the shots when it comes to how extravagent these events can become. A Photobooth, CO2 Cannon, Video, Photographer are some of the must-haves for this sophisticated bunch. Also trending is the Live Instagram Feed where guest can snap a photo, post it to an Instagram Hash Tag and watch it posted live on mounted Large Screen TVs.
As for song selection, teens are mostly selecting EDM and Hip-Hop. They know exactly what song they want played for each moment of the event. There is no shortage of energy and fun the JS16 teen experiences. We have on staff several dance entertainers that assist in getting the crowd going, but they really blend with the rest of the crowd.
We pride our events on keeping the teens out of their seats and for 4 hours, it is really a club and party scene with body surfing and fist pumping. The Photo Booth is a tremendous add-on and the teens have a blast with it. You never know what is going to happen behind the curtain. When I post the pictures to my website, the teens really enjoy seeing each other.
To be honest, some of the pictures cannot be posted
The dress and styling is very chic. Red Carpets, girls with dresses that would rival any wedding dress. Makeup, hair and nails done by professional stylists. Strech Limos for the guests and sometimes a fully equipped party bus.
I never get tired doing a JS16 and I recall when I was 16 how much fun it was. Now I sit on the other side of the DJ booth pumping the sounds of EDM, Hip-Hop and other Dance favorites. It gives me a chill to know I have made someone’s right-to-passage fun and memorable.
My business has tripled with booking for JS16s on the rise. I have most weekends in 2015 triple booked and brought on extra talent to handle the demand. I have increased my offering to include Lighted Dance Floors and Lounge Furniture. It seems everyone is trying to outdo each other.
Most of my business comes from referrals and we also have a steady flow of clients from our 2 popular websites:
