Agreed…to an extent…as there are also 2 kinds of brides. The first are sticklers for their “requests” and others are not. It all comes down to knowing your clients. Skipping over a brides requests can make the difference between a totally happy bride with a great review on WeddingWire…or a very angry bride that rips you limb from limb. Some brides could care less if the dance floor is filled…they just want to hear their songs…regardless of anyone else’s reaction. (We normally try to avoid these clients.) Just had this situation last night with one of my Jocks. Bride pre-selected every song of the evening. I instructed our DJ to make sure that everyone was aware of this in his opening announcements. At the end of his welcome….”Ladies and Gentlemen all of the musical selections for this evening have been hand picked by the bride and groom for your listening pleasure”. Did as many people dance…no…was the bride happy ….$200.00 tip. Will there a be a positive review on WeddingWire for giving the bride what she wanted…YES. Did he look his best at this job…unfortunately now. Weddings are a toss up…when you are being paid by the bride and groom to play their songs…if they are sticklers. With these types of brides…we have to swollow our pride (of being able to fill the floor) and give them the high end service they expect.
