Extend Your Brand with Video Blogs

by Jason Jani

The Definition of a Vlog

Wikipedia defines Video blogging, as a form of blogging for which the medium is video, and is a form of Internet television.

Entries often combine embedded video or a video link with supporting text, images, and other metadata. They can be recorded in one take or cut into multiple parts.

Video blogging has changed my life in many ways and one of the most important parts of my business today.

My First High Definition Camcorder

It has been almost two years since I purchased my first digital high definition flash drive camcorder.

At the time, a decent consumer grade 1080p hard drive camera surpassed $1300 and candidly if I knew what I do now, I would have paid over $5000 for the same camera if I had to do it all over again.

Spreading the Word About Your Company

Youtube, Vimeo, Facebook, and Viddler are amongst some of the most popular media websites online where you can place your video blogs.

With over 120 video blogs found on my company website, SCEWeddings.com, I can share that Vlogs have opened up many opportunities for my business with clients as well as with colleagues and other industry professionals.

To be candid, vlogs have increased our business and has helped us “cost effectively” spread the good word about our service offerings to thousands.

I personally look at video logs as a way to showcase the uniqueness of my services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

My virtual online video storefront can take a person into one of my events, at the leisure of their internet connection. A prospect can see what we do, and how we can take their event vision and bring it to life.

What a Vlog Should Include

Video blogs for DJs should include these three components:

  1. An introduction that provides some insight about the event, venue and festivities planned for the celebration.
  2. Footage of some of the highlights mentioned in the introduction, and additional footage of the event.
  3. A closing that could include a candid post event testimonial from the couple or event host.

These components are just a loose outline for our video logging format. You must keep in mind that, there are many ways to do a vlog, and there is no set way or standard.

Remember, the brand of YOU is totally unique, so keep finding ways to extend that brand!
