In 2002, Matt Rothlein, Justin Martin, and Mark Bearss (who were then recreational DJs), paired up to combine their ideas, equipment and creativity to give birth to Orlando, Florida-based, PRO Event DJ.
They believed that as a new company in a well-established marketplace, PRO Event DJ needed to be different from their local competitors, and that image would be critically important.
The guys were confident in their raw talent, but they also knew that to rise above the rest, they would have to be both polished and cutting-edge in their business approach.
They were able to book diversified events ranging from small school parties and birthday celebrations, to large weddings and corporate events.
As the business model matured, so did their scalability. As a result, they have proven to be a force to be reckoned with in their marketplace.
PRO Event DJ also provided DJ and MC services for a Kentucky Derby event – complete with announcing the winners of the race!
One of the ways they differentiate themselves is by providing personalized remixes from songs chosen by the bride and groom for wedding receptions.
In 2011, the company also launched the “Play it Forward” campaign by pairing up with the American Childhood Cancer Organization and the Florida Hospital for Children to provide no-cost entertainment services.
I asked Matt what the thought was behind coming up with the company’s charitable campaign:
Having the chance to make a difference in the lives of children has been the most rewarding experience throughout our company’s history. Quite honestly, they have also been some of our favorite events!”
It appears that no event is too big, too small, or too different for PRO Event DJ. Personally, I have never been the MC or DJ at a wedding where there was a knighting ceremony for the groom, but these talented young entrepreneurs have!
